I’m a lifelong dog lover & professional canine behavior expert:
I’m an Internationally Certified Canine Behaviorist, and there are less than 300 professionals with equivalent certification worldwide.
I’ve worked as a K9 Handler for Wilderness Search and Rescue. (When you depend on your dog to save human lives, you learn to build a different kind of trust!)
I’ve worked in Animal Assisted Therapy and seen how my dogs’ wisdom and intuition had the power to transform human suffering.
I’ve rehabilitated dogs with severe aggression and fear issues. In fact, this is my specialization!
I’ve worked as a chairwoman in a dog rescue organization.
I’ve trained, competed, and titled in a variety of performance dog sports.

Here’s what I love to do with my dogs, now:
Day to day, my dogs and I enjoy plenty of adventures together.
I like to eat at sidewalk cafes, and my pups hang out with me and watch the people go by.
We love to hike, travel, and explore new places.
We even go kayaking together.
Each dog I’ve been privileged to share my journey with has taught me so many incredible lessons. I learn more from them every day.
I’ve seen all sides of it now, and I know that true connection is possible.
More is possible for you and your dog, too.
I grew up on a farm, so working with animals was a part of my daily routine.
In my childhood fantasies, I always had the ability to talk to the animals around me…especially the dogs.
I read everything about dogs I could get my hands on. I was obsessed with stories like Lassie and Where the Red Fern Grows. Then one day, browsing in a used bookstore, I found a book about dog psychology. I was hooked.
Shortly thereafter, Friskies ran a promotion where you could get a “cat training kit” that included a clicker and instructions if you collected enough stamps from their boxes. I used my allowance to buy LOTS of cat treats.
Once I had the kit in hand, I got started with the barn cats. Then the chickens, rabbits, cows, goats… and of course the dogs.
Fast forward to today, I’ve spent over 30 years working with dogs, earned multiple graduate level certifications in canine behavior, invested 500+ hours of continuing education, and I’m forever thankful for that visit to the book store & to Friskies cat treats.
In addition to understanding the minds of dogs, I am fascinated by human psychology. I’m especially interested in cultural difference, and have spent a lot of my career exploring the topic.
I spent my early career living and working in Germany, Brazil, and the UK as an international consultant. I designed intercultural training projects for enterprise companies like Bosch, Fluor, Michelin, and Kawasaki.
After settling here in the Carolinas, I wrote and delivered curriculum for Clemson University. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with clients from 60+ countries & gained fluency in Portuguese as a second language.
But dogs have always held my heart, and I will never wander too far from that.
Curious About My Four-Footed Life Companions?
“
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea…
He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant…
…His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me – whenever, wherever—in case I need him. And I expect I will, as I always have. He is my dog.”
